Dr. Fan Liu is a full professor at the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences. He previously served as a professor at the Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and as an assistant professor at the Erasmus University Medical Center in the Netherlands. Dr. Liu’s research areas include forensic DNA phenotyping, molecular epidemiology, and human appearance omics. He has developed several molecular models for predicting human appearance traits. His pigmentation trait prediction model and age estimation model have been applied in forensic fields in multiple countries.

Dr. Liu has published over 100 papers in SCI-indexed journals, with more than 4,000 total citations and a Web of Science H-index of 35. Fifty of these papers, where he is a lead author, have been published in renowned journals such as Nature Genetics, Nature Communications, Current Biology, and Forensic Science International Genetics. Over 10 of his papers have garnered significant international media attention. Dr. Liu was also included in the 2023 October update of Stanford University and Elsevier’s list of the top 2% of the world’s leading scientists (in the legal medicine subfield).
